Meta-mode is the off-path agent attached to every surface. Ask kitsoki how it works (cross-app, no session needed); ask a running story to explain its own rooms and transitions (read-only); or hand the story-author mode an instruction and watch it edit the story's YAML, commit, and hot-reload the live session in place — the edit recorded as a story.changed trace event. An FSM rewriting its own definition while it runs has no analog in a general coding agent.
